Common questions

How is salary tax calculated in Pakistan?

Your monthly salary is multiplied by 12 to get yearly taxable income. Each slab's rate applies only to the part of your income inside that slab, so moving into a higher slab never reduces your take-home pay. The yearly tax is then divided by 12 and deducted by your employer each month.

What changed from 2025-26?

The first three slabs are the same. Above Rs 2,200,000 the rates are lower: 20% instead of 23%, and the 35% rate now starts at Rs 7,000,000 instead of Rs 4,100,000. The 9% surcharge on incomes above Rs 10,000,000 no longer applies to salaried individuals.

What is not included?

This calculator does not account for tax credits (such as pension fund contributions or donations), exempt allowances, the teacher and researcher rebate, or income from other sources. Your actual deduction may differ.
